New Worlds division
Big news for small gyms! 📢
Some context to help you understand the changes:
For the 2021-2022 season, the USASF introduced new “Limited” Senior level 6 divisions. These divisions were created specifically for gyms with only one team competing at The Cheerleading Worlds.
Teams would compete in their regular divisions to earn their Worlds bids, but for Worlds, they had the option to compete in the new Limited Divisions.
The following Limited divisions have been offered at Worlds since then:
Limited Extra Small/Small All Girl (combining both Extra Small & Small teams)
Limited Extra Small Coed
Limited Small Coed
Now, here are the changes:
The Limited All Girl division will also be split in Extra Small & Small, like the Limited Coed divisions - creating a new Worlds division!
The Limited Divisions will be available for teams to compete in throughout the entire season, not just at Worlds.
Two California Allstars coaches temporarily suspended
The California Allstars sent out an email regarding two of their coaches (Paul York and Ries Brooks), which have been out on the “USASF Restricted & Ineligible List”:
The reason for their suspension is listed as “Member policy violation related to athlete protection“, which could mean many different things. The gym clarified that no minors were involved (could still mean adult athletes were), and that it is not a criminal investigation.
You can see the full list of restricted & ineligible individuals here.
