New Global Cheerleading Association
A new membership organization, the Association for International All-Star (AIA), has launched to support cheerleaders worldwide.
Unlike other organizations like USASF, the AIA claims independence, meaning it’s free from ties to major companies like Varsity that have long dominated the sport. It’s a for-profit organization operating outside the USA.
Why it matters: The AIA wants to make cheerleading more fair, open, and welcoming. They aim to unite the cheer community, listen to everyone’s ideas, and keep the sport growing for years to come.
Their vision, according to their website:
“We aim to establish the largest, most inclusive independent international organization for All Star cheer and dance. By providing a stakeholder-driven structure, we empower those who shape the sport to have a voice in its growth and direction.”
What’s coming:
AIA plans to host an International All Star Tournament every 18 months, moving to a new location/part of the world each time (we 👏 have 👏 been 👏 asking 👏 for this 👏).
The first tournament is set for Montreal (Canada) in July 2026. The tournament will not be an end-of-season event, but the pinnacle of AIA's competitions. Learn more here.
Regional competitions will also be hosted more frequently.
AIA will help fund an International Non-Profit Association, so gym owners and event producers can focus on improving the sport.
