New teams added for the "Marquee Main Event"
Two weeks ago, we talked about the new "Marquee Main Event" competition. Here's what that newsletter said:
The Spirit Network, an independent (= not affiliated with Varsity, USASF, etc.) event producer has announced a new event that looks INSANE! 🤩
Some of the top level 6 teams in the United States will face off in 7 different rounds.
Click here to see the different rounds of competition + the teams.
2 new teams have now been added to the competition - Cheer Extreme Smoex & Brandon Allstars Smoke!
The competition will take place on March 18-19 in Las Vegas.
USASF takes back the change of no paid bids for non-tumbling
Things change fast in Allstar cheerleading...
Only a month ago, we covered USASF's decision to no longer award paid Worlds bids to Non-Tumbling teams (read more about that here).
Fast forward to last week, when we reported that the USASF had sent out a survey to gym owners about the change.
Here's what we wrote in last week's newsletter:
It looks like the USASF has sent out a survey to gym owners about this new change.
Since the change received mostly criticism, and the USASF said they were “contacted by a handful of programs about the timing of the announcement” - we can only assume they might be changing things again 🧐
And guess what? The change has now been taken back, allowing event producers to still give out paid Worlds bids to Non-Tumbling teams.
Maybe they should survey people BEFORE making important changes next time... Just an idea 🤷♀️
New dates for the World Allstar Federation's World Championship
When the "new cheerleading World Championship" (it still doesn't have a name yet) was announced, the dates were said to be April 29-30.
There's been an update, and the competition will be held on April 27-28 instead.
And yes, those are the same dates that The Summit starts...
Sign up for the World Allstar Federation's regional information calls
Speaking of the World Allstar Federation, you can learn more about the organization through Zoom calls this week.
At the moment, the calls focus on different US regions, but hopefully, they'll offer more information soon for international teams.
Although, if you're curious and the time works with your time zone, you could probably join from outside the US 🤫 Don't tell anyone we told you this... just kidding!
