Everything from the World Allstar Federation's first meeting
The newly formed World Allstar Federation (don't know what we're talking about? click here!) had its first public meeting/session.
A LOT of things were discussed and announced 👀 We will be breaking down the main topics & news, starting with this:
New cheerleading World Championship
The organization is planning a new World Championship for level 5-7 teams (because which sport doesn't need 4 different world championships..?)
It will be held on April 29-30 in Kissimmee, Florida (because there aren't enough competitions in Florida either!)
We don't know a ton about the competition yet, like what it will be called, but more details will be revealed soon.
Here are some of the things we do know!
Including Junior teams
It was revealed that Junior level 5 & 6 teams will be able to compete, unlike at the USASF/IASF Cheerleading Worlds.
They will offer both all-girl and coed Junior divisions.
No split between international & US teams
Another thing is that there won't be a split between international and US teams/divisions. This is something that many have been wanting for years.
Many argue that Worlds, the regular USASF/IASF Cheerleading Worlds (it's hard keeping track of these competitions already...), isn't a "real" world championship.
That is because many divisions are only open to US teams, and only 3 teams per country advance to finals in international divisions.
This new World Championship won't have that split, so US teams and international teams will compete against each other in all divisions!
An all-male division
IT'S HERE 😲
Another thing many have been wanting for years - an all-male division!
More details will be revealed later, but there will be some type of all-male division at this new championship.

Wait until the end... 😂
An XL division (up to 50 people on a team)
As if these announcements weren't crazy already, an "XL" division will also be offered at the new championship.
It will be available for Senior level 6 teams and allow up to 50 athletes on a team 🤯
There might be a split of coed and all-girl teams, but we're not sure how many gyms would be able to fill multiple 50-people teams...
Safety concerns have already been raised. Last year, USASF members were asked about lowering the number of athletes allowed on Large teams (from 38 to 30).
Here's what the suggestion said:
"There is more chance of injury with 38 athletes on the floor tumbling. This is especially true when these athletes are performing level 6 tumbling. The max team size should be lowered to 30 so it matches all other elite levels and reduced chance of injury. Also, most gyms cannot field a team with 30+ athletes. It is not needed."
Just imagine choreographing a routine with 50 people...

The Majors 2023 teams announced
The invite-only, "best of the best" competition takes place on January 20th, 2023.

USASF surveys gym owners about the removal of paid bids in Non-Tumbling
A few weeks ago, we talked about the decision to no longer award paid bids to Non-Tumbling teams (click here if you missed it!)
It looks like the USASF has sent out a survey to gym owners about this new change.
Since the change received mostly criticism, and the USASF said they were "contacted by a handful of programs about the timing of the announcement" - we can only assume they might be changing things again 🧐
