3 new Varsity lawsuit updates
Trigger/content warning: sexual abuse. Please skip reading this if you need to.
Last week we reported an update on the lawsuits against Varsity, and this week we’ve got three more:
1. Claims against Varsity’s founder Jeff Webb remain
Some claims against Webb were dropped, while some were not. Here’s what FITSNews wrote about it:
“Four days after Tennessee-based Varsity – the behemoth of the American cheerleading industry – lost its bid to be dismissed from several federal lawsuits, the founder of the company received similar news.
Attorneys for Memphis-based businessman Jeff Webb received a ruling from senior U.S. district judge Henry M. Herlong, Jr. on Monday, June 26, 2023. While Herlong dismissed several claims against Webb – including a RICO allegation – he found there was a plausible claim against the billionaire for gross negligence as it related to his alleged enabling of the culture of sex abuse within the American cheerleading industry.”
2. Bain Capital (Varsity’s owner) has been dismissed
The company that owns Varsity and its brands, Bain Capital, has been completely dismissed from the lawsuits. This means that the accusations made against them have been dropped, and they will not face any further legal action in this case.
3. Possible trial date
It was also reported that a schedule has been set for the case. If there are no significant changes made, the trial is expected to take place on February 26th, 2024 - just a week before NCA Nationals 👀

In other news…
13-year-old lands cheerleading's first female quad (4 twists) full
Yes, you read that right 😳
Since we don’t have much other news this week, we thought why not include this fun (and impressive) fact?
Summer Lawrence, famous for her tumbling skills, posted a video of a casual quad (!!) full, supposedly the first ever performed on the floor by a female cheerleader! And she’s only 13 years old…
While there may be differing opinions in the comments, just overlook them for a second and appreciate the incredible feat that this is:
